Taconic Begins Manufacturing Base Materials in Asia

Taconic announces that they have begun manufacturing their copper-clad base materials for RF & microwave printed circuit boards in Cheonan, Korea. This new manufacturing capability will enable Taconic to quickly respond to the growing Asian market as well as enhancing service to existing customers in the Far East.

“An increasing number of companies in the printed circuit board industry are looking to Asia for their material needs. We are excited to begin manufacturing our high-performance printed circuit board materials where they are required,” remarked Manfred Huschka, Taconic’s Vice President of Global Sales. “Not only will this move benefit our customers in the Asian market by increasing product availability and reducing lead-times, but with the shift of production from our American and Irish facilities to our new Korean facility, our existing American and European customers will also benefit from increased capacity and reduced lead-times.”

“Taconic is a true global player, with manufacturing sites for both business divisions – Industrial Products Division and now the Advanced Dielectric Division – in the three main world market regions: America, Europe and Asia. We feel that this is a great achievement,” stated Andrew Russell, Taconic’s CEO.

Highly skilled engineering personnel from America and Europe have begun traveling to Korea to ensure that the transfer of technology is done seamlessly, guaranteeing that customers will receive the same high-quality materials from Korea as they currently do from America and Europe.

“Taconic anticipates offering their major product lines from their Korean manufacturing facility from the fourth quarter on,” states Mr. Y.M. Lim, Managing Director of Korea Taconic Co. (KTC).
