Hybrid Multilayer
Base materials made from PTFE (Teflon)/woven glass are being used in larger and larger
volumes. The reason for it is based the continuously increasing operating frequencies of electrical
appliances. Today multilayers made entirely from thermoplastic materials are being used as well as hybrid
multilayers composed of PTFE and FR4. The technical article covers base material selections, multilayer
manufacture with emphasis on inner layer preparation and lamination, as well as general pcb manufacturing
recommendations (drilling, solder masking, routing, etc.)
