Taconic's RF-35 long laminates provide antenna manufacturers with cost advantage.

In less than one year after commercializing its low cost PTFE/glass fabric base material RF-35 in standard sheet sizes of 36 x 48 " (914 x 1220 mm), Taconic can now offer RF-35 also in long laminate formats for long PCS/PCN antennas. The unique capability for trimmed sheet sizes of 36 x 60" (914 x 1526 mm), 36 x 76" (914 x 1930 mm), and 102" (2590 mm) is key for companies involved in design and manufacture of base station antennas of typical thicknesses of 0.0300" (0.76 mm) and 0.0600" (1.52 mm).

RF-35 was engineered combining Taconic's advanced knowledge of PTFE/glass fabric technology with ceramic-fill technology to produce base material with a DK of 3.5 for microwave, RF and High Speed Digital printed circuit boards. This ensures the best-of-class tolerances for thickness and dielectric consistency.

Ultra-low moisture absorption of RF-35 (less than 0.02 %) coupled with a low dissipation factor of 0.0018 (measured at 1.9 GHz) aid in limiting the amount of signal amplification required, reducing signal noise, and minimizing phase shift with frequency.

RF-35 has the highest available copper peel strength for base materials with a dielectric constant of 3.5: 8 lbs./in (1.4 N/mm) for ? ounce (17.5 µm) copper, and > 10 lbs./in (1.75 N/mm) for 1 ounce (35 µm) copper cladding. This ensures reliability over time, and greater ease and resilience in assembly, in particular during rework operations.

RF-35 laminates exhibit V-0 flammability according to UL94, and are tested in accordance with IPC-TM-650.

Taconic manufactures PTFE/glass fabric base materials for microwave, RF and High-Speed Digital applications in both Petersburgh (NY, USA) and Mullingar (Ireland).
