Taconic Welcomes Du Pont's US$ 50 mio Expansion Programme for PTFE
Taconic would like to share this DuPont press release with customers to
demonstrate how Taconic's raw material suppliers have seen the growing need
for PTFE base materials used in high-speed digital applications. DuPont joins
others in the growing industry alliance to make fluoropolymer laminates the
next industry standard design platform for high-speed digital.
DuPont Fluoroproducts Completes $50 Million Expansion Program for Teflon® PTFE
WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 28, 2002 -- DuPont Fluoroproducts announced today
the completion of a previously announced $50 million global capacity
expansion program in its DuPont™ Teflon® PTFE fluoropolymer business that
has increased global capacity by 30 percent since 1999
According to DuPont Fluoroproducts, the expansion program was primarily
focused on Teflon® fine powder and dispersion resins, and included
investment in both facilities and state-of-the-art technology. Most of the
investment was directed toward the DuPont Parkersburg, West Va., facility,
the largest fluoropolymer manufacturing facility in the world. Upgrades also
were implemented at the DuPont fluoropolymer manufacturing sites in
Dordrecht, the Netherlands, and Shimizu, Japan.
"Expanding the global capacity for DuPont™ Teflon® reinforces our position as
the longtime leader among fluoropolymer producers, and will help ensure that
customers around the world have the products they require as economic
conditions improve and demand for PTFE returns to a more normal pattern of
rowth," says David W. Boothe, global business manager - Teflon® PTFE, for
DuPont Fluoroproducts. "In addition to the traditional markets for PTFE, this
capacity expansion will also support the growing need for fluoropolymer
laminates in the high-speed digital marketplace" says Boothe.
